Disneyland Dream

Everything that a regular American kid can take for
granted, an orphan child from abroad accepts with such a delicate
unbelief and such an overwhelming happiness that he or she can be
compared to a stunned Cinderella who appeared at the palace for a
ball for the very first time.

Adoption Ark, with help of supporting
organizations, wonderful volunteers and generous American families,
was able to make a dream come true – the children from a Ukrainian
orphanage were able to have a Dream vacation and at the last day of
their 3-week stay in California visited Disneyland. It was a real
highlight of their stay, the wonderful finale of Dream Vacation
2004.

This summer program was a success: the children had
fun, they swam, learned some basic English, played at the beach,
visited LA, visited some California attractions, received many
presents, made many friends and of course had so many memories that
will last their lifetimes. The day in Disneyland was their last day
in the USA. This day, Thursdays, August 5th, with rides and slides,
with sings and drinks, was a blast for Sergey and Ania, for Andrey
and Denis, for Olia and Vita, for Ylia and Bogdan, for all these
children who were enjoying their childhood with all these funny,
quick, scary, exciting attractions: Mad Tea Party, Haunted Mansion,
Dumbo the Flying Elephant and others.

At the end of the exciting day, some children went
to a hotel to sleep and some were brave enough to wait for a Disney’
Character’s Parade and for the exiting Firework! Look at this kid –
Sergey, he was so exited, his eyes were full of shining stars of the
firework. It was a memorable day. The next day was full of tears for
all of us – the children went home, to their orphanage. We hope to
see them again!

Now, Adoption Ark is hosting another group of
orphans, from Russia. We ask for your generous help. Please help us
collect money for the Disneyland tickets. On your donations, please
write: “for a child’s ticket to Disneyland”. We want Russian orphans
to have a blast and a memory that they will not forget forever!
